In addition to receiving our free MS Office suite, you can also expand your skills via LinkedIn Learning – with unlimited access to over 14,000 courses and 1,800 video tutorials.
Plain old reading? With our IU Interactive Book® you can do so much more!
The Interactive Book® is the e-book version of the lecture notes. Read, remembered, understood? Thanks to your Interactive Book®, you can test yourself straight away. At the end of each study unit, you answer questions to check what you’ve learned. And you’re shown the answers straight after. You also have the option of taking digital notes which you can save and access at any time. By the way, you can also use the Interactive Book® offline and synchronise it across all your devices.
All of the content and learning objectives in your lecture notes are separated into units based on didactic criteria. Each unit is made up of several learning cycles. This allows you to learn the subject matter at your own pace and in a structured way. The lecture notes serve as a basis for other study media on the course, such as set books. With all of this, you’ll be perfectly prepared for your exam.
In addition to the lecture notes, you can also access other media in our online library to create your own personal mix of study materials. In the Master’s degree course, you’ll also complement your knowledge independently through further reading.
No matter which course you take, you’ll always find the study materials you need. Certain courses offer helpful video tutorials that clarify terms, theories, formulae, and case studies from the respective lecture notes – either briefly or in detail. This way you can listen to your tutors explaining the content at any time and get an impression of what’s expected of you on your course.
Interactive learning sprints
Some courses offer what we call “learning sprints”: interactive intensive units that prepare you for your exam in just four weeks. In these learning sprints, students support each other and work together to solve tasks. In certain modules, sprints also give you the opportunity to consolidate what you’ve learned and anchor it lastingly by means of intensive live tutorials and “Tasks of the Day”.
Selected courses also include revision manuals: catalogues of questions that help you prepare intensively for your exam. The revision manual includes transfer learning tasks of varying degrees of difficulty, all of which are very application-oriented. The tutor for the relevant module will be happy to answer any questions you have on our communication platform.
Online forum & Consultation sessions
In many of our courses, we offer online forums where you can exchange ideas with other students at any time. This way you get to know fellow students, lecturers and tutors, obtain valuable input for your flexible study phases and always get quick feedback.
The tutor will support you personally in many of the courses. Live consultation sessions take place at set times. These give you the opportunity to ask questions about course content, exams and organisational aspects. The questions your fellow students ask may also be very helpful to you.

100% flexibility – Exams whenever and wherever you want
The IU International University of Applied Sciences online learning programme allows you to decide when and where we test your knowledge: you decide whether you want to take your exam online or the traditional way at one of our over 40 exam centres.
Being in top shape matters! Night owl or early bird? Different people are at their best at different times of the day or night. You should take exams at a time when you feel on top of your subject and in top shape. That’s why you can simply go online and book the slot you want for your exam. It could even be at 3 a.m., if you’d like.
Here’s how it works:
1. Log in
Create an online profile with our service provider and book your desired exam slot.
2. Check your equipment
To start your exam, connect with the proctor, your online invigilator. The proctor will use the webcam to check your identity, your equipment and whether your workspace is set up appropriately.
3. Take the online exam
Now you can start scoring points with your knowledge. When you’ve completed your exam, end it by clicking the “submit” button and let the proctor know.
Done! You’ll get your results back in approx. six weeks.
Maybe you’d prefer to sit your exams the traditional way? No problem. You can still take your exam at an exam centre as usual.
Your in-person exam centre
Would you prefer to take your exams in a traditional environment? Then you can make use of the opportunity to take your exams in the traditional way once per month. We offer over 40 exam centres across Germany, Austria and Switzerland where you can do just that.
You can find our study and exam centres in the following places:
